ASSE New York chapter

President Dominick Agostino’s Message

Welcome back members and guests:

Can you believe 2011 is here already? This is a time to reflect and a time to set those goals. Change what needs to change or modify what works and make it better. Nothing like the present to kick start your growth in our career and personal life. Change is good. Embrace change and make it work for you. Start the New Year off by enriching your mind by attending the next ASSE/ASPE kick‐off meeting for 2011. We will have a great presentation, "Solar Thermal Trends & Technology" and will be presented by Hollis Fitch, III of Cinco Solar. Make a point to come out and see what's on the horizon for the next technology. This technology is becoming recognized a viable choice in our energy conscience world. There will be an opportunity for Q & A to see if this can work for you in future projects. Clients are aware of this. Make sure you have the answers for them. Our sponsor is none other than, Kurt Hazard, a heck of a guy that will be there to greet you at the literature table to answer any of your questions that you may have about products or football.

If you missed our ASSE/ASPE holiday social on December 1st, you missed a spectacular evening. We had record attendance and everyone had a great time. After years of practice, we seem to have gotten it right this year. The Heartland Brewery folks have been very good to us in making it such a success. Our sponsors had been very generous providing us with lots of raffle giveaways for our social as well as supporting us throughout the year. We would like to thank Altherm Inc., American Pipe & Tank, ASAP Sales/Platsky Co. Inc., Beacon Medaes, Cullen Associates, Dellon Sales, Edwards Platt, & Deely, GA Fleet, Harper International, and PVI Industries. I hope I didn't miss anyone? They are truly the lifeline that keeps our societies alive.

2011 will bring change to ASSE. 1st V.P., William Connors, P.E. will be sworn in as the 53rd New York Chapter President. We also have the fortune to have some new people joining us as officers and director positions. Only good will come out of this. Please welcome them with open arms.

As I step down to give my successor this honorable opportunity, I wish to thank my mentors for encouraging me to making a difference. I had the fortune to be supported by four individuals which are still committed to society cause. Without the guidance of past presidents, Bob Zeuner, Tom DiPietro, Pat McGarvie & Joe Petro, my sense is that the society could not have flourished like it did without their boundless support.

Now let's get back to work and make a difference in 2011.
