2007 ASSE Scholarship Fund 50/50 Raffle

What a year for the raffle. We sold more tickets than ever, which means the prizes were the highest ever. We sold a total of $11,445 worth of tickets. Thank you everyone that helped by purchasing tickets for this great cause. We thank you and the students thank you more. This year we were able to award 13 scholarships totaling $12,750 to a very deserving group of students. A special thanks must go to In-Sink-Erator Company for sponsoring a scholarship this year and in the coming years.

ASSE Sal Farruggia Memorial Scholarship, $2,000

ANA FOX-HODESS daughter of Aram Hodess of the California Chapter has won this award for the second straight year. Ana is now in her second year at Brown University enrolled in Pre-Med/Community Health. Here is a young lady that has her mindset on working in the field of public health. Just wait until you read her essay in the newsletter..

The In-Sink-Erator Scholarship, $1,500
CLIFTON SATHOFF
is this year’s winner. He is enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay majoring in Physics and Education. He is currently carrying a 3. 949 GPA. Clifton wants to become a secondary school teacher. He is the grandson of Ray and Jan Ehrlich.

The Illinois Chapter Scholarship, $1,750
JENNIFER ZYCKS is this year’s winner. The committee agreed to add $750 to Jennifer’s award because of her high score in the overall standings with the other students. Jennifer is in her second year at Illinois Weslayan University, where she is maintaining a 3.48 GPA majoring in Educational studies. Jennifer also is the granddaughter of Ray and Jan Ehrlich.

MICHAEL CLEARY
, son of Sean and Carol Cleary, has just started at the Pennsylvania College of Technology looking toward a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation, he would like to follow in his dad’s footsteps and enter the Apprenticeship Program. Michael would also like to start a student chapter of ASSE at his school. What a great ambition! Another one of the top essays.

$1,750 Scholarship:
JOSEPH FUGELO
is the son of Joe and Saree Fugelo. Young Joe is in his second year at the University of Delaware, majoring in Secondary Education- History. Here is a dedicated young man that knows what he wants and how he will get there. Joe has learned at a very young age that the ASSE motto means a lot more than just what it says. I am really happy that he takes after his Mom.

RYAN O'
GORMAN, son of Daniel O’Gorman, maintains a 3.5 GPA at Harvard College in a dual major program in Physics and Math. He is conversational in both German and Spanish and exceptionally talented in music. He has recorded perfect scores on both SAT and ACT tests.

MEGAN SUGRUE,
granddaughter of Pat & Sherrie Sugrue, is a Junior at Ursuline College where she has a 3.68 gpa majoring in Graphic Design. She is very involved in Student Government and at her church. Here is a very hard working and fine young lady.

ZACHARY WAICKMAN
is the son of Marianne Waickman, our Backflow Program Coordinator. Zach is in his Senior year at Loyola University- Chicago majoring in Communication and maintaining a 3.689 GPA. When you read what Zach is involved in and what his goals are, you see a very mature young man that is going to work out really well. 

$1,250 Scholarship:
MICHELLE REICHARTZ
is the granddaughter of Don Reichartz, IPP. She is entering her second year at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan majoring in Accounting. She participates in the Leadership program at the university. She appears to be a very organized and bright individual.

$1,000 Scholarship:
KATIE MORIN is enrolled in Northern Illinois University as a sophomore majoring in Nursing. Katie is the granddaughter of Dick & Lil Morin. Katie is serious in her approach to her classes and to life in general. She, too, knows what she wants.
